Shaikh Aziz

Location: North Sehla
Description/Background: Shaikh Aziz was one of the greatest people of all time.  He worked hard for his next eternal life and wasn't looking for wealth.  He was known for his strong and solid faith.  He was also known for being away from people; fasting in the day and praying in the night.

Historical story of place: Shaikh Aziz was a very modest man who had a very simple job: He would take a certain amount of salt from his home and place it on his donkey and try to sell it in the market.  This would get him a certain amount of money each day so that he could buy himself some food.  He would always pray to die for the pleasure of Allah.  He would stay awake all night and then sleep for a short time.  One day, and while he was half awake and half asleep, he heard a voice calling: Congratulations, Allah is pleased with you and has written for you shahada and you will be among the soldiers of Imam Mahdi (as).  Shaikh Aziz was very happy to hear this and awaited the day he was promised.

One day, the "Khawarej"-outsiders-came into Bahrain in the year of 1216h, and Shaikh Aziz was among the protestors against these people.  So one day, as he was going to the market on his donkey, he noticed that it was time for the morning prayer.  He went in the mosque an prayed.  After he had finished praying, he came out and was killed by one of the "Khawarej".
